A zombie shooter played in the real, photographed 3D city. Seal off your own streets and everything inside becomes the quarantine zone: your corner shop, your metro station, your front door.

Survivors holding their streets right now. Up to four in a zone: drop in beside them.

The city is Google's photorealistic 3D map, streamed live: the façades, the trees, the bikes on the pavement. The streets, shops, stations and front doors come from OpenStreetMap, so the pharmacy you raid is the one on your corner.
Then the lights go out.

This is the Emergency Broadcast Network. This is not a drill.
At 23:41 on the night of 13 October, every metro on Earth stopped at once. The trains went dark between stations. Then the fog came up the stairs.
Nobody knows what was down there. We know what came back up.
By midnight the dead were in the streets of Copenhagen, Paris, Los Angeles and Rio. By one in the morning the authorities stopped trying to save the cities, and started sealing zones. A quarantine wall around every neighbourhood. Lit red. Sealed from the outside.
If you can hear this, you are inside the zone.
Hold your street. Raid the pharmacies for antibiotics. Get the people trapped behind their own front doors out. Clear the stations where the fog still breathes. And when the helicopter comes, it lands once.
Where volunteers fell, their graves remain, and their last words with them. Light a candle. Then reload.
This message will repeat.
How the outbreak works
Draw your zone around any part of any city Google has in 3D, up to 10 km². Your hood, your office, the street you grew up on.
Real buildings become walls. Real pharmacies, metro stations, squares and addresses become your missions. The dead crawl out of the stations.
The closer you get to the objective, the more of them there are and the faster they run. Finish the mission, take the score, go again.
Controls
In the browser, nothing to install. Keyboard and mouse, a controller, or your thumbs: pick one to see how it plays.
In the game: H, or Controls in the pause menu.
Missions

Survivors are trapped behind real front doors. Hold the door while you get them out.

Raid the actual pharmacy on your corner for antibiotics, then hole up before the horde finds you.

They are pouring out of your metro station. Go down there and put them back in the ground.

Hold the square until the helicopter lands. Then run. Do not look back.

COFF is free, and it stays free. But every city you enter is streamed live from Google’s 3D map, and that is paid for by the visit. $3 keeps the lights on for about 250 visits. If you had a good night out there, chip in.
Identify yourself before you chip in, and your name carries the ♥ Resistance badge on every leaderboard and grave.
Pick the streets. Seal them off. Find out how long you last.
Where do the dead walk tonight? Scan a place for the outbreak, or go where the resistance needs you.

The starting batteries go to each account the first time it signs in after the change (not again to those who already had theirs).
E-mail addresses are personal data. They stay on this page: don't copy them anywhere public. Playtime is counted per visit to a city; before that was counted, it is the time in the scores (finished missions and runs), which leaves out quits and team games.
